Corn Belly's Fun!

So after living in Utah for almost 7 years and still not making it to a corn maze, I decided that this was the year to finally experience it. We went with our buds Kelli and Matt and experienced all there was to experience at Corn Belly's at Thanksgiving Point. We enjoyed the giant maze...Kelli and I won beating the guys out of it, the "haunted" hay ride...which was actually really romantic :o), the duck races, pig races, and much, much more. It got me thinking of how much fun it will be to take a little kid of our own to these types of activities some day. :o)
But it was a great fall day to enjoy some great fall fun!

Updated Preggy Picture

I've been kind of scared to post another pregnancy picture of me since I got such fabulous responses on the last one I posted and basically...I am not feeling quite as cute as I did a month ago and just feel so much bigger...so, I've been afraid to show the world how I'm looking. :o)
But, I did want to show that I actually AM getting bigger. So, here's me at 24 weeks!

Black and White Party

I have to say I'm so proud of my friends that are married and still throw awesome parties. I think I phased out of the whole party planning thing after the second year of being married...but I did try to make a valiant effort to keep up with it for a while there...for those of you who'll remember...remember Jack's surprise parties...and our housewarming party?? :o) I was a pretty good party planner back in the day. But after almost five years, we're definitely more a hang out couple then a partying one I think. But that doesn't count out GOING to other people's parties though. ;o) So, we were pretty excited when our buds next door decided to throw a shwanky Black and White party. The food was fabulous and so were the outfits and more than anything, it was really nice to dress up and go do something like that, which isn't the norm for Jack and I. Yeah for the fabulous gals in the 25th Ward! We look beautiful!
P.S. So how many of you think I actually look pregnant in the pic? :o) Isn't black such a wonderful color? ;o)

Baby Naming

My sister sent me this funny article with all these sites to go to for naming your baby. I thought this one, Baby Names, Etc. was quite funny. It takes you through some questions and from your answers, it gives you the names you should name your baby. Where in the world did someone come up with this? How does your favorite pie and colors come up with a baby name???
Anyhow, I thought it was funny and here are the names that got generated from my preferences:
GIRLS: Calissa, Caralisa, Chantal, Darianna, Fabiola, Gabriella, Laraine, Makayla, Uma
BOYS: Antonio, Chauncey, Daryl, Gabriel, Judd, Lucus, Romeo, Stone, Theodore
UNISEX: Avery, Cameron
Even better, this site even has a baby name generator that if you don't even care, you just push a button and it'll give you some names to name your baby. Wow, wouldn't that be a story to tell your child..."um...yeah, I just went to the Internet and pushed a button that magically told me the name you should be named." ;o) Funny stuff!
Hey, but at this point, that may be what Jack and I have to resort to if we can't figure out a peaceful way to resolve whether or not we're having a Jack Enoch Madsen the Fifth or not.
Interestingly enough, I also looked up my name on the Popular Baby Names registered with the Social Security Administration and it told me that "Bernice is not in the top 1000 female names for any year of birth in the last 20 years." But that's the way I like it! :o) I like having a unique name and I'm glad that my parents gave it to me. Anyhow, if you couldn't tell, baby names are definitely on the mind. :o)

Fall Feel

I fiiiiinally got the blog updated to change the look and feel to fit the fall season. I'm a big fan of fall and all the beautiful fall colors out there. But, I have to say, this whole customizing of your own blog is HARD WORK!! To say the least...
It was crazy trying to figure out how to get the coding to work how I wanted and it took WAY TOO LONG. I'm all for simple...but at the same time, some of the templates blogger offers are just a little tooooo simple. So, go figure I have to get all gung ho myself and try and figure it all out. But I am proud to say that I DID IT! :o) I hope you enjoy this new fall feel to our blog as much as I do. Though, well, I'm enjoying it cause it was the fruits of my own labors. ;o)

Feeling the Baby

At my monthly appointment this week, the doctor asked if I had been feeling the baby more. My answer was uhhhh...I'm not sure....?? She assured me that I should start feeling the baby more and more. But in all reality, a lot of people have been asking me if I've been feeling the baby, and honestly, the way people describe it makes it hard to really know what I'm feeling going on inside. A lot of people describe flutters...but it doesn't really feel like that to me. What I "think" is the baby feels more like little bubbles kind of popping, or even gurgling. But it seems like week 22 is the magic week, because I can finally say I feel an actual BABY pushing or kicking now. Actually, on Saturday, Jack even felt it cause our little boy kicked so big. And during lunch yesterday right after I ate my lunch, little baby Madsen was going crazy and kicking up a storm. I even SAW it!! Not like it was like a foot pushing through, but the vibrations of the baby's movements made my shirt move! :o) So, I'm pretty excited now that I can finally answer, YES, I CAN feel the baby! :o) And it's pretty darn exciting too! So, signing out for me and baby, it's a big thumbs up for us right now. I'm feeling good and I'm hoping all this kicking and moving means baby Madsen is feeling good too. :o)

First Baby Purchases

For those of you that know me, I LOVE to shop. So, I've been a little shocked that I really don't LOVE to shop for baby things. I've walked into several baby sections of several stores...and time after time, I walk out with nothing! I can't seem to actually make a baby boy clothes purchase without someone else there. I think I'm still trying to adjust to the fact that baby boy clothes are just not as cute as all the girly stuff. And I hate to admit it, but I didn't realize til now how much of a girly girl I am! I LOVE the little bows, frills, lace, and EVERYTHING! Looking at the boy stuff in comparison is just a little "different" for me.
But I am happy to announce I made my first couple of purchases. Below are the onesies I bought but I couldn't find a picture of the little denim bucket hat or the little baby blue and white sneakers I bought either:o(. Oh...and I've discovered I LOOOOVE baby shoes! :o) I could seriously buy shoes, after shoes, after shoes for our little man. But Jack makes me restrain myself. He says all he needs are his everyday shoes, workout shoes, and church shoes and that's all the baby needs too. We'll see about that. ;o) Oh, and it's really cute, but you can't see on the green one it says "You make me drool." :o)

Anyhow, another discovery I've made is that baby stuff is EXPENSIVE! Yes, you can all laugh at me now and say, how did you not know that. And it's not like I didn't know that...but buying things for a baby and seeing how little my bag is that I'm walking out of the store with was shocking for me! I feel like I get soooo much more when I spend the same amount on me...given my clothes are triple the size of a baby onesie, eh? :o) But yes, I'm trying not to have too many anxiety attacks about how expensive things are going to be, so if any of you have any good advice for making baby purchases, I sure could use them. :o)
